Fowler Class DNB Single Cylinder 12 Ton Roller Works No. 18659 'Arfur'
​Dispatched from Leeds in March 1930, Arfur was an order placed by Montiero Gomez Ltd. Lisbon, Portugal. The engine had a relatively short working life and returned back to the UK in 1975. Arfur was then purchased by Mr Richard Wilcox who was the chairman of the Road Locomotive Society in 1977, repainting and lining the engine to the correct Fowler green. It was then passed to Peter Smart of Hampshire who had the rear rolls re tyred by Bicknells. 
The next owners had the engine from 1987-2005 who gave the engine an overhaul including a new firebox, tube plate, rear axle (with new bearings), chimney base and firebars. The roller also boasts a balanced crank and rubbered rear wheels.
 
The engine is currently undergoing it's 10 year hydraulic and will be supplied and fitted with a set of new tubes, ready for the new owner to enjoy many more years of rallying. Below is an overview of what is included.

1913 No.8064 Aveling & Porter R10 Road Roller "Nulli Secundus"

We are pleased to offer for sale Aveling and Porter R10 road roller Nulli Secundus, Works no 8064 was built in 1913, new to St. Albans corporation NK1102 was working until 1958 and is the sole survivor of 4 rollers bought by the St. Albans county council.

First registered in 16.02.1921 the engine transferred into preservation to Mr D Newton of Chesham Bucks in 1968, where it underwent restoration. In 2012 Mr C Griffiths of Tring Herts owned the engine until passing to Mr J Freer of Kettering Northants. In 2020 the engine then passed to the current owners.

The engine is in good condition throughout with the most recent hydraulic test being carried out on 14-07-2020, and current steam test conducted 22-07-2022. Between May and August of 2020 the engines boiler tubes were replaced at Marston Steam Restoration, prior to the hydraulic test being conducted. 

The roller has a Morrisons patent no 1567 scarifier and a factory steel canopy that was fitted later in its working life at the Aveling and Porter works .

This engine is, based at the sellers location in Gloucestershire.
